Physician and physicist. Mayer traveled to East India as a ship's physician doing bloodletting observations on human blood, this experience led him to a recognition of the equivalence of work and heat. In 1842 for the first time he published his reflections/considerations. After long priority battles he was recognized as the discoverer of law of 'conservation of energy'.
